Cherrystone auctions March 27th - 28th 2001

An interesting selection of around 200 lots of Russian material with a strong section of the 1857 10K brown. Also included are some 25 lots of Offices in China with lot 1811 being a collection of 70+ covers and lot 1827 being a pair of incoming and outgoing letters to the Alexandrovski prison on Sakhalin. This is followed by 12 lots of Russo-Japanese war correspondence and a strong section of some 30 lots of Posts in the Turkish Empire. Estimates are most certainly not the lowest in town but the lots are interesting and some of the mixed lots hold potential. If you get the catalogue be sure to check also under "South Russia" etc. etc. for some strange reason this company does not group such items with Russia but lists alphabetically. A report on realisations will follow the auction.
