AUCTIONS

Cherrystone Auctions, 12-13th September 2001

Not such an extensive section this month for the Russia collector but nevertheless one with some very high quality items. Estimates tend to be on the high side for the more popular items such as early Imperial covers but a careful look will still yield some bargains.

Of particular note this time are several pages of Zemstvos with a couple of nice Bogorodsk covers a couple of Russo-Japanese war covers addressed to General Kuropatkin and an 1859 Ropit cover.

There are also several collections which could prove of interest if you have a few thousand dollars to spare including a collection of officially sealed mail (57 covers/letters) which is well written up and comes with an estimate of $5000 as does another collection, this time of military mail (135 covers and cards).
