Russian postmarks: an introduction and guideby A.V. Kiryushkin and Philip E. Robinson
This book is a 110 page, A4 size study of the various types of postmarks used in Imperial Russia, giving details of their usage, also containing supporting chapters and appendices on the postal history of Russia, postage rates, forgeries etc. Valuations are also given for all the different types.641 postmarks are illustrated.
The book also contain maps showing the borders of postal districts and regions of the Russian Empire with their capitals, and further maps showing the network of railway lines in European Russia, Central Asia and Siberia. There is a glossary of over 150 Russian words and abbreviations found on postmarks, printed in Russian and transcribed into English, together with their meanings. Although the book does not assume any prior knowledge, and so will be useful to beginners, it is hoped that the book will also be of value to advanced collectors, as it contains much new information, and all the data is presented in a handy form. The book has been planned as systematically as possible, so that the reader can easily find any particular section, or type of postmark.
