September 2018

Dear Member,

BSRP Annual London Meeting: Saturday 6th October 2018

As usual our annual meeting will be held in the Disney Room at the Union Jack Club, Waterloo, London SE1 8UJ from 9.30am. I hope you will be able to attend and participate in what will be a whole day of Russian philately. We will be mounting a varied and interesting programme and a great opportunity to socialise with your philatelic colleagues. The proposed programme of displays for the day is as follows:

Russia and Persia: Postal Relations During the Qajar Period (up to 1925) – Bjorn Sohrne

USSR Stamped Postal Stationery Cards Raster Varieties 1932/1950 – Sergey Lukianchikov

Republic of Georgia: Postal History from April 1991 to October 1995 – Hans Grigoleit

Agathon Fabergé as a Collector of Russian Fiscals – Trevor Pateman

The First Petrograd Censor Marks – Ian Ritchie

Batum Stamps and Postal History – Edward Klempka & Hans Grigoleit

Travelling Post Offices – Edward Klempka

Zemstvo Social History Through Correspondence and Ephemera –

Part 1 – Robin Calvert; Part 2 – Terry Page

Zemstvo Mail to and from Abroad – Terry Page

Time will also be made available for individual Members’ Displays and Queries. Please bring some of your own material for display and/or discussion…and do not worry if it is simply a single stamp or cover!  As in previous years, there will also be an ongoing bourse, so you can sell your spare material and hopefully enjoy an opportunity to find something for your collection. A buffet lunch will be served courtesy of the Society and hot drinks will be available throughout the day.

Overnight accommodation on Friday and/or Saturday is available at the Union Jack Club (020 7928 6401 – abo@ujclub.co.uk). You are advised to reserve as soon as possible and do not forget to mention that you are attending the meeting in order to qualify for the special Associate Membership discounted rate.

You are also invited to join us for an informal dinner at the Brasserie Blanc located just a short walk from the UJ Club – a fine restaurant with a convivial atmosphere and reasonable prices.

I am greatly looking forward to welcoming you at the meeting. Meanwhile, to help us with the catering, it would be appreciated if you could confirm your intention to attend (preferably by email) and also advise whether you will be joining us for dinner. Of course, spouses and friends will be most welcome!

Sincerely, and with my kind regards,

Terry Page
